The Meyersdale Municipal Authority is required by PA DEP to enforce Pressure Testing of all properties upon transfer of real property, smoke and dye enforcement and other issues that evidence leaks in the sewer laterals and system. This testing is crucial to ensure the sewer lateral, the pipe connecting a property to the main sewer line, is free of leaks and structurally sound. Pressure testing helps identify potential problems like cracks, leaks, or blockages, preventing issues like inflow and infiltration into the public sewer system.

A large percentage of material entering the sewer treatment plant during rainfall events is storm water. By reducing the amount of storm water entering the plant the cost of the future sewer treatment plant is greatly reduced.
The Authority is required to construct a new sewer treatment plant by 12-31-2037
